Statement of Duties:

The selected candidate will be a member of a professional team responsible for the implementation of Stream Corridor Management Plans for the Delaware River basin in the New York City watershed. Candidates for the position must show demonstrated engineering experience in hydraulics, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView GIS and related software packages, GPS systems, and computerized data management programs. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with training and/or experience in fluvial geomorphology and natural stream channel design.

The selected candidate will be required to perform Rosgen Level I through Level IV geomorphic assessments and analyses, perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, assist with project site identification and project cost analyses, prepare/approve and certify restoration project designs, supervise construction projects, prepare reports and public presentations and prepare and write technical sections of the Stream Corridor Management Plan. Delaware County is located in the Western Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. This rural, agricultural county is host to two drinking water supply reservoirs that serve the downstate New York City region.

Starting Salary and Benefits:

$70,000 - $90,000 per year, contingent upon experience. 100% Family Health Insurance, New York State Retirement System, Enhanced Disability Benefits, NYS Deferred Compensation Program, Vacation and Sick Leave.

Minimum Requirements:

A) Registered Professional Engineer licensed to practice in the United States with emphasis in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or closely related discipline (if not currently licensed in New York State, candidate would be required to obtain a New York State license within six months of employment.)

B) A valid NYS Driver’s License required.

Position may be subject to Civil Service exam.
