The effects of global change on floods, fluvial geomorphology and related hazards in mountainous rivers

Fecha de la actividad:
6-8 March 2017

Dear colleagues,

Please find attached the last call for abstracts of the symposium on The effects of global change on floods, fluvial geomorphology and related hazards in mountainous rivers, which will be held in Potsdam (Germany) the next 6-8 March 2017. The new one includes all the different organizations which will support it, highlighting the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) (15% of discount in the registration fee for all the IAHR members), the German Society of Hydrology (DHG) and the Water Science Alliance e.V.

The purpose of this symposium is to bring together researchers from several disciplines as hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, hydraulic engineering, environmental science, geography, economy (and any other related discipline) to discuss the effects of global change over the river system in relation with floods. The symposium will try to improve our understanding of how rivers are likely to evolve as a result of global change and hence address the associated hazards of that fluvial environmental change concerning flooding.

Deadline for abstracts submission and registration is the 30th November (letters of acceptance/rejection and type of communication will be send around 15th December). Remember that an special issue in Earth Surface Processes and Landforms from the contributions will be edited.

Finally, in the flyer you'll find a link to the webpage which includes all the information of the symposium.

Looking forward to meeting you in Potsdam next March!

Best wishes,

Jose A. López-Tarazón (on behalf of Prof. Dr. Axel Bronstert, Prof. Dr. Annegret Thieken and Dr. Theresia Petrow)
